CubeSmart Is Becoming More Environmentally Friendly
In addition to the Plant A Tree initiative, CubeSmart is changing practices in our corporate offices as well as pursuing projects that will make our storage facilities even more environmentally responsible. We’ve even launched an internal “green team” to identify more sustainable business practices as well as helping to educate all of our employees on how we can be more responsible.
Here are just a few projects that we’re working on...
  • CubeSmarthas streamlined internal processes and eliminated excess usage of printing, paper and supplies.

    For the supplies that we do need to use, we’re looking to source more recycled and environmentally responsible products.
  • Lighting upgrades at our storage facilities are estimated to save over 1M kwH per year, which is equivalent to the energy used by about 100 single family homes!
  • By replacing older computers and monitors with hardware that meets ENERGY STAR® requirements, CubeSmartis now decreasing its energy consumption on a daily basis.
    • According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, if all computers sold in the United States met the ENERGY STAR® requirements, the savings in energy costs would grow to more than $2 billion each year and greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by the equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions from close to 3 million vehicles!

  • Current heat/air systems are being switched to programmable thermostats to control energy consumption with auto-adjusting temperature controls based on time of day.
