This is one of a series of stories we are sharing to show what's inside CubeSmart. You not only get a peek inside our customer's storage unit, but also a peek inside what is important to them. Thank you to Clifford, a customer of our CubeSmart store in Peachtree Corners, for sharing his story with us.
Clifford McGavey is a former educator turned small business owner who saw a need in his industry and turned it into his new profession. While still teaching, he began his side hustle of supplying school supplies to his own personal network of teachers and online retailers like Amazon, eBay and more.
He buys to resell, so at any given time, depending on retail cycles and sales, Clifford estimates he has 8-10 storage units at CubeSmart. This is where he stores his inventory. He knows exactly what he is getting when he rents a unit and loves how CubeSmart makes it easy to keep track of his business expenses.
Clifford has tried "other storage places" but couldn't imagine going anywhere but CubeSmart. He first became a customer because of the location – it's less than a half-mile from his home. He has remained a customer because of the General Manager, Angela. Clifford broke into a big smile during the interview when he began talking about her.
Clifford credits his ongoing CubeSmart patronage to her. "She really goes out of her way to get to know her customers and to create a place that I stop by just to say hello, even if I am not accessing one of my storage units. It's a warm and welcoming place to come, almost like a neighborhood hangout. Angela and Alex really are a great team. They know and like their customers".
Running a small business is his full-time business so he appreciates the consistency of CubeSmart and the people who run it. He prides himself on having good relationships and enjoys seeing people who work here when he is out in the community.Clifford is a self-professed no-drama kind of guy who says if it weren't for the family atmosphere, he would go somewhere else. "CubeSmart doesn't just talk about doing good for customers, they actually do it. They go out of their way to be fair and accommodating to others."
We'd love to hear how self storage has positively impacted your life. Share your #HumansofSelfStorage story in the comments.
