This is one of a series of stories we are sharing to show what’s inside CubeSmart. You not only get a peek inside our customer’s storage unit, but also a peek inside what is important to them. Thank you to\u00a0Dennis, customer of our CubeSmart store in Hoboken, \u00a0for sharing his story with us.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dennis Johnson works for a startup company called Getaround, a peer-sharing company which is essentially like Airbnb for vehicles owners. On a daily basis, he visits the Grand Street, Hoboken CubeSmart facility<\/a> to pick up the connects and boxes the company installs in the cars to allow their owners to track and monitor the renters\u2019 usage.<\/p>\n

\u201cCubeSmart is really like our office. We wouldn’t be able to run the company without it,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Later in the day he might check on customer cars, or wash, gas up or clean his company car. It\u2019s the perfect job for someone with a passion for driving.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday we on-boarded a Porsche 911, which, I\u2019m not gonna lie, is the most expensive car I\u2019ve ever driven,\u201d Dennis says. \u201cI was very nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old was born in Brooklyn, where he still lives with his mother. He went to college to study computer engineering for a short time but dropped out to start his own business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI kind of change my mind easily. The business thing got boring so then I got into cinematography and cars,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Dennis brings along a camera for rides, collecting footage for later use. He edits his own videos and posts them on YouTube. He\u2019s part of a club of car aficionados who go to car events in the New York metropolitan area, and he\u2019s hoping to create a bigger channel with those friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole idea would be to help new drivers understand how a car works. I\u2019m pretty new to this scene but I have some knowledge and my friends do also\u2014we can pool it together and share it with others,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Dennis\u2019 dream car is one he hopes to someday actually attain, a Nissan GTR, which he says is inspired by the similar model Paul Walker drove in The Fast and the Furious<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not like a Lamborghini or a Bugatti. It\u2019s a regular car so I could drive my mom around without her being scared.\u201d<\/p>\n
