Star Wars<\/em> fan. \u201cWe would never have agreed on that name if she wasn\u2019t. The mother has to like the name or it won\u2019t happen,\u201d he says.<\/p>\nThey met three years ago at a mutual friend\u2019s party and started talking. They just \u201cclicked and that was it,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
Soon, they will merge their six cats (five are hers; one is his) under one roof. \u201cIt\u2019s been going good. Really good, I guess, since we\u2019re having the baby.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sean is a bike messenger during weekdays and works in the dairy section of a local supermarket on weekends\u2014in total, 60 hours a week between the two jobs. \u201cI always liked to ride bikes and someone told me when I was twenty years old that I could get paid to ride all day. I deliver packages all across Manhattan, sometimes Brooklyn or Long Island City.\u201d<\/p>\n
Once, he says, he showed up to a high-rise apartment building and the doorman sent him upstairs with the package. The door opened and he was face to face with actress Rue McClanahan of Golden Girls<\/em>. \u201cI was like, Blanche<\/em>! And she invited me in and gave me an iced tea. I\u2019ve met other celebrities and seen a lot of them in elevators over the years. That\u2019s just life in Manhattan.\u201d<\/p>\nSean says he\u2019s been lucky in his 19 years on the job that he\u2019s never gotten hurt\u2014just a few bumps or scratches here or there. Now that he\u2019s in his forties, though, he thinks he\u2019ll probably retire from the work in the next five years or so.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure what\u2019s next. I\u2019m still exploring. I never want to stop exploring.\u201d<\/p>\n
Today he\u2019s brought with him a new Star Wars<\/em> shirt he got from a friend who worked at Comic-Con. He\u2019s been looking for baby-size Princess Leia buns but no luck yet.<\/p>\n\u201cI was surprised we didn\u2019t get any Star Wars gifts at the baby shower. I hope she\u2019s into Star Wars<\/em>, too, but I want her to choose her own path.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
