Let\u2019s face it: even in the best of times, sports gear is oftentimes\ndirty, sometimes smelly, and almost always in the way. Storing\nsports gear (and storing it properly), on the other hand, is easy and\nimportant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the ground starts thawing and the trees start budding, it\u2019s time to clean your winter sports gear<\/a> and pack it away for the next several months. We\u2019re talking skis, snowboards, sleds, snowshoes, and snowmobiles. When the winter chill begins to fade away,\nit\u2019s time to visit your storage space with any portable heaters, blankets,\ntents, and personal pop-up weather pods<\/a>. Storing winter clothes can be a real hassle. They\u2019re big, they\u2019re\nbulky, they\u2019re plentiful, and boy do they take up tons of closet space. It can be rather difficult to find\nthe room when it\u2019s time to (finally) put away your boots, scarves, hats, coats,\nsnow pants, and gloves. Especially when all you want to think about is bathing\nsuits, flip flops, sundresses, and shorts. Enter self-storage!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While most customers can fit their winter clothes into a storage locker<\/a> or 5×5 storage unit<\/a>, some people minimize the space required even\nfurther by using a vacuum storage bag to\nsuck all the air out of a container. Be careful, however. Removing the air can\nbe harmful for fabrics or materials and create deep creases in your clothes. Be\nsure to follow all instructions to minimize risk. Spring is also the season to swap home d\u00e9cor.\nMost people enjoy storing home decor like\nholiday decorations, tinder boxes, wreathes, and furniture covers because it\nmeans the warm, welcoming days of spring and summer are right around the\ncorner. Swapping out winter d\u00e9cor with summer decorations like planters, garden\nflags, and wind chimes. Speaking of gardens, spring is also the time to bring\nthe garden tools back out of storage, especially if you\u2019ve got big plans to plant a pollinator garden<\/a> or vegetable garden this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Storing your outdoor furniture is definitely the right move over the winter\nmonths, be it metal furniture, wicker furniture, or wooden furniture. Storing it\ncorrectly, however, requires a little work to make sure you get as much life\nout of your furniture as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleaning patio furniture is extremely important at both ends of its\ntime in storage. While methods vary slightly depending on which material your patio furniture is made of, most if not all of them <\/a>involve a bucket of warm water, a soft cloth,\nand detergent or dish soap. Many times you\nsimply have to let the furniture air dry before\nuse, so beware of cleaning them immediately before you want to use them. While\nit might seem like a needless pain, the pleasure that clean\noutdoor furniture provides should not be underrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re interested in storing patio furniture in the off-season,\nconsider how to consolidate your items to make best use of the space.
