At first glance, The Bronx neighborhood of West Farms seems oddly named. Just 10 miles outside New York City, this area is hardly comparable to great expanses of wheat and corn; however, West Farms\u2019 unique location does stand out as a quieter, more natural setting in the middle of a sprawling city.<\/p>\n

This community is wedged between the Bronx Park and the Bronx Zoo to the north, the Bronx River to the east, and Crotona Park to the west, creating a little urban oasis. This store is conveniently accessible by public transportation. Hop off the 2 or 5 or take the 19 bus at 174th Street, just 1 block from our store. Even closer, the 21 bus drops off just outside our store at the intersection of Boston Road and Vyse Avenue. Fordham University students appreciate that our store is only 2 miles from campus, so they don\u2019t have to waste precious summer time trying to find a place to store their dorm stuff.<\/p>\n

\"Crotona<\/div>\n

We\u2019ll help you move your belongings indoors, so you can spend your time outdoors. Crotona Park<\/a> is a massive oasis offering anything you could want in a park. Yankees fans can play ball on their open baseball fields and enjoy a grilled dog or burger in the barbecue areas. With handball, basketball, and tennis courts, as well as huge playgrounds, it\u2019s hard to believe this park\u2019s main feature is actually a lake. In the heart of The Bronx, Crotona Park\u2019s 3.3-acre lake is host to fascinating wildlife and peaceful fishing. Want the water but with a little more activity? Stop by the park\u2019s 300-foot public pool and spend hours on a sticky summer day in the pool\u2019s spray showers and fountains.<\/p>\n

The non-profit art studio and gallery serves artists, youths, and the general West Farms area by encouraging engagement and revitalization of the community and environment surrounding them. Last summer, The Economy of Food<\/a> exhibition explored topics of food systems, surroundings, and sensibilities through photography, videography, and performing arts.<\/p>\n

The BRAC has also been host to the Bronx River Sights & Sounds Festival<\/a>. Showcasing diverse music and performing arts, this month-long summer festival brings eclectic performances of different music genres to West Farms and other venues throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

While nearly two thirds of the West Farms population is Hispanic, importer and distributor Gustiamo <\/a>brings a taste of Italy to the area. This upscale company imports gourmet olive oils, pastas, tomatoes, and sweets from authentic culinary artisans throughout Italy. While their business is wholesale, they offer individual sale so you can try their products right at home in your West Farms apartment as well as in a NYC restaurant.<\/p>\n
