Just got a storage unit. I reserved it online and got a great rate. When I went in to finalize the reservation, the manager was very helpful, explaining the whole process and getting me situated in my new storage unit. The facility is easy to navigate and have very accessible hours. Really happy with my decision to have a unit here.

Facility maintenance is beyond unacceptable. Garage gates have been broken for months and on the last visit to my unit before vacating, the elevators were broken and stairwell doorknobs were missing on three of five floors, completely preventing access to my unit.

This is the most disgusting and poorly maintained storage facility I have ever used in my life. It’s consistently filthy, inside and out, and there is always something broken. The garage doors look like they’ve been rammed into multiple times. The entry doors don’t lock behind you, and you don’t actually have to put in a code to enter. The elevator buttons don’t work. There are roaches inside. The price we pay for this shoddy facility is almost criminal — almost $200/month for a small unit that holds seasonal decor and camping gear. Quick photo of the garage for a small example of what you can expect throughout. I’ve had CubeSmart units at other locations in DC and in other states, and this location is by far the worst (others have been great). It gets worse every time I come by here.

The only good experience I’ve had at this storage location was the day I was moving out. The manager and I briefly spoke about a time she remembered me becoming irate with her via telephone and explained that I tried airing my grievances to her, but she hung up because she’s typically not someone to be able to handle listening to things of that nature. I thought to myself “..and this is why I am moving out.” My experience with this particular CubeSmart has always been tense, because the employees that work at the location always seem to have shifty attitudes. I never knew what I was going to get when I walked through the door, and when I did get service, it was typically with a negative aura. It’s sad that the atmosphere had to be this way due to something as simple as the employees lacking customer service skills, although I wouldn’t expect anything less from this side of town. There’s still no excuse for it. I’ve had a lot of successful and positive associates that have grown up on this side of town yet, they have not allowed the adversities of the community to shape who and how they are..especially in a professional environment. So this is why, regardless of my lower expectation.. I was not going to except what I don’t deserve. I deserve nothing less than positivity and customer service especially from employees that are not volunteering or being forced to work, but are getting paid to exhibit exceptional customer service at their own will.

We rented a unit at store #5326 for our daughter's belongings (she is a college student in DC). We needed the unit only for the summer. When we returned to DC from Boston, we ran into an issue because of an error we made. The store manager, Tracy, was friendly, helpful, solution-oriented, and efficient. Within the hour, we were removing our daughter's items from storage to bring to her dorm.

Price is great. My first experience was not. I paid for my storage online for easy access. This was my first time getting a storage. The help was very abrasive in responses upon arrival. There is only 1 hand truck so if you don’t bring your own you have to wait for others to drop off or pick up. I checked in at around 6 and had to wait until almost 8 to move 3 large boxes and I’m back today with the same issues not being able to move large items to my storage because there is 1 hand truck. If you ask the office there’s no resolution but to wait.

This would be my second time getting a storage unit & I recommend it to everyone when asked. Tracey has helped me both times & she is amazing from customer service to her personality . Keep up the good work :) ! The facility its self is great , clean , accessible till 10pm.

Tracy & Tavanni, I’m sure I didn’t spell that right, at 1401 22nd st we’re always courteous, professional, & tried to work with me during my time of need.

The manager of this facility was responsive and very helpful with explaining the initial rental and final checkout process. This storage facility was well run. The gate had issues (sometimes stuck), but I didn’t have a concern about the security of the units. I’d rent here again if I needed to.

I rented a storage unit from the 22nd St SE location in Washington DC in January. I was told then that the gate in the picture below would be repaired soon. It is now the end of March and the gate still looks like this. I was told by a person in the neighborhood that the gate had been broken for a least a year. Really Cubesmart? One has to wonder if this facility were located in a wealthier neighborhood if a major security feature like this would go unrepaired for this long. Do better. Repair the gate immediately.

3 stars mainly due to not pro-rating my move-out. Other than that, it was a fine experience with the exception of a layer of white dust on the floor of my unit. I'm guessing it just falls from the ceiling. Hopefully it's non-toxic! Front desk was pleasant and helpful, and the building seems very secure.

Six months after starting to rent here and they've already raised my monthly rent $22. I've been trying to contact the office to ask about this and they are avoiding me. Staff is friendly, but not good at communication. If you don't mind having your rent raised $20+ dollars every six months, I would recommend this place.

Initially I experienced great service. The process to set up was quick and efficient. Which made the high price not too bad. However, after two years and at least four price increases we decided to cancel. The gate to the loading area was broken about 80% of the time and frequently there was no one available during office hours. We finally decided to cancel this year.

Easy access, great new facility, well kept. Downsides: She staff are a bit rude and slow. And the place is kind of in the hood. Still recommend though.

Furthermore, they’re asking me to send my insurance information with MY PERSONAL FINANCIAL INFORMATION unredacted! Completely shady; stay far the F away! I was definitely a little wary of getting a storage unit—I've heard horror stories—but this CubeSmart location is amazing! The facilities are clean and cared for, and the staff are all so kind and helpful. The GM Tracey is especially wonderful. She personally took on helping me navigate a pricing issue and was able to get it resolved quickly with detailed and clear communication. Thank you so much!

This week I went to CubeSmart in need of a new unit. Upon arrival, the assistance and the energy was warm and intentional. The initial service member aided me in finding a location actually closer to my home! Once coming to the second location, the atmosphere was just as amicable and helpful. I was greeted with urgency as Tracey opened the door up for me upon meeting her for the first time (the manager). Tracey was very intentional, thorough and benevolent and went above and beyond with exceptional customer service. She gave me a tour of the entire building (twice) and explained everything thoroughly even with me on a time crunch and I appreciate that. Definitely recommend! Come see Tracey and her team if you need storage!

Today I went to CubeSmart for a walk through of a new unit when I arrive the energy and atmosphere was awesome I was greeted with a smile and I met the manager Tracey she was very kind and friendly and had good customer service. She gave me a tour of the entire building and explain everything down to the wire and I appreciate that. She knew exactly what kind of unit I needed and had it ready without me even telling her and I was very shocked. If you want good service and a clean storage unit then please come on down to and see Tracey she will take care of you.

This is a really nice, updated and modern storage facility. The manager is super friendly and helpful. Getting in and out is really easy.

Customer service manager was wonderful. However, there is a major problem if you rent the smaller "locker size" units... They are placed at the top of the regular units, and are only accessible by a ladder... a very unsafe, unstable, narrow ladder that is nearly impossible to carry anything up, especially if it weighs more than 10 lbs. or is wider than your body. Not only that, but because you have to climb this ridiculous ladder in order to access the unit, you cannot use all of the space... unless you can somehow get off of the ladder to crawl into the storage unit to move things into the back of the unit... and then crawl in there again to get them out--all while trying not to fall while using the ladder. It is amazing to me that anyone thought this was a smart design, and that someone else approved this design, and someone else implemented it. That's three people that should've been fired immediately. I can't believe how insane this design is. Luckily I don't have much to put in there, what I have to store isn't heavy or bulky, and I don't need the unit for very long, or I would have cancelled and found another storage facility. Still in awe of how dangerous and dumb this set-up is.

Every effort was made to ensure that all of my needs for space rental were taken care of and that I received all available amenities. Tracey’s knowledge of the business and her professionalism added greatly to the experience. I would definitely recommend this facility to others.

New, clean facility. It feels very secure—entry codes required everywhere practically for access. Very close and easy to get to from navy yard. The manager is very friendly and was very intentional in walking me through the facility and how to access everything. Move-in was smooth. Seems like a good storage facility to me! Update Nov. 16, 2021: Still secure and easy to get to. No complaints about management. I just wanted to note for people that their elevators are frustrating and too small for a storage facility. Why they wouldn't have freight elevators is beyond me. And you have to constantly enter codes to use it. Moving is a pain with the elevators. If I had to do it again, I would probably get a ground floor storage unit or find somewhere else with better elevators. Removed a star for the elevators.

Tracey the GM was very nice and walked me through everything I need to know step by step. I leased a 10' x 10' online before seeing it. In person the useable floor space is more like 9' x 9'. The unit is closer to 10' x 10' measuring from halfway up the walls.

The GM, Tracey, is absolutely incredible! I cannot say enough about her. She was friendly and welcoming, and ensured I understood exactly what I was signing during contracting. All staff I encountered were very helpful. Whenever I didn’t understand something (and even if I thought I did) they made an effort to make sure I was clear in a way that always felt supportive. While the facility itself is not open the longest hours, I didn’t have an issue. I didn’t need to get to my stuff 24 hours a day! The facility is clean and every part is in working order! My stuff was secure!

I previously left a negative review about the first month free promotion. It turns out that there was miscommunication about my move-in date. Karen, the manager of CubeSmart contacted me via phone to clear up the misunderstanding. This weekend I moved in with no problems. Tracey was very helpful in giving me the lay of the building and how everything works. I am very pleased with their CubeSmart's customer service. Many companies will not even bother replying to negative reviews or will argue a dispute with a customer right from the review page which IMO is very unprofessional. Kudos to Karen and Tracey for everything.

Stacy was very friendly and a huge help when It came time to moving in. Place is new and clean. The parking area is really tight so if you have an SUV or pickup truck use the loading docks.
