This is one of a series of stories we are sharing to show what’s inside CubeSmart. You not only get a peek inside our customer’s storage unit, but also a peek inside what is important to them. Thank you to Abby Daniels, customer of our CubeSmart store in Manhattan, for sharing his story with us.
In September, Jordan Daniels moved from San Francisco back to Chelsea in lower Manhattan, the city of his childhood. Jordan, 22, is better known as Abby by his friends and co-workers. Abby grew up in upper Manhattan, moved to Atlanta with his family when he was 11, and then moved to San Francisco where he participated in Internet search engine training from February to September 2016.
Abby, whose mother lives in Savannah, GA, and whose father lives in Brooklyn, NY, is involved in several pursuits. He is a search engine evaluator and a food courier. And he is infatuated with national politics. “I can’t stop checking it. Like every hour of the day.” he said, during a visit to the grand opening of CubeSmart Self Storage Manhattan on West 55th Street. “It’s really entertaining. Only Game of Thrones might be better.”
One of his biggest passions has been writing and publishing a book called, “The Blood of Our Sisters.” Abby described the fiction book as a psychological thriller in which an award-winning journalist interviews a group of vigilante women about their exploits. Abby said he keeps easels, tables, tablecloths, marketing T-shirts, and other gear that help him sell the book at our store. He plans to hold an official book launch on Nov. 24.
In the meantime, Abby said he has sold 300 pre-orders of the book as he has taken to the streets with his friends to distribute flyers and set up sales tables at places such as Union Square and East 17th St. He also has bigger goals than just this book. Abby enjoys graphic design and photography. His professional hero is Jony Ive, the chief design officer for Apple.
“My dream is to be a world-class designer — product designer, visual designer,” he said.
