For the past seven years, the life and sacrifice of 468 firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency medical personnel have been commemorated by the Brotherhood Ride. Organizers hold an annual ride on, or near, the one-year anniversary date of a fallen first responder’s death to honor their memory and provide emotional and financial support to their family. The 8th annual Brotherhood Ride remembers five fallen heroes from Florida and one fallen hero from Georgia on Saturday, July 23. More than thirty firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel from all over the country accompanied by 15 support members will embark on a seven-day bicycle ride through the state of Florida pedaling 80-100 miles a day from North Naples to Fort Walton Beach.
One of their first stops will be CubeSmart on South Tamiami Trail in Bonita Springs. General Manager Terrence Rokosh, a decorated Gulf War veteran, understands the importance of remembering fallen heroes and was moved to join the efforts when he became the General Manager of the Bonita Springs location. “I am blessed to be a part of a great company like CubeSmart that cares about helping the community and being involved in helping others,” shared Terrence. “This charity is such a big part of my heart. The Brotherhood Ride helps the first responders’ families by sharing with them and letting them know that they are cared about and that they won’t be forgotten.”
Prior to CubeSmart management of the self-storage property, this location provided the organization with space to store event items. Both Terrence and Store Manager Sade Noack were quick to increase support and involvement in the event over the past year. They are pleased to have CubeSmart be an official stop on the first leg where the riders will break for rest, water, and photo opportunities before continuing on.
Conveniently located on the riders route on U.S. 41/S. Tamiami Trail in Bonita Springs, CubeSmart will welcome the riders later Saturday morning after their 7:45 a.m. take off from Naples. They will be surrounded by emergency vehicles escorting them through the area. Join us in welcoming them and then cheering them on as they start on their way to the next rest stop.
Check back later for photos from their first rest stop!
