This is one of a series we are sharing to show what’s inside CubeSmart. You not only get a peek inside our customer’s storage unit, but also a peek inside what is important to them. Thank you to Jennifer Pineda, a customer of our CubeSmart store in Linden, NJ, for sharing her story with us.
Jennifer Pineda is new to the Linden Avenue CubeSmart, having only moved her belongings into her unit about a month ago. “It’s a very convenient location, very clean, and I love that I can drive right up to my unit and get what I need.”
Her unit contains overflow items she can’t fit in her apartment. She recently moved from Jersey City to Linden because it’s closer to her work and because she says it’s a more peaceful place to live.
Jennifer works as a physical therapy aide. “I’ve always been in the medical field, since I was 19 years old. I love to help people, and this allows me to work with patients as they heal.”
Often, though, Jennifer finds her patients can benefit from alternative therapies, such as massage, and she often counsels them on nutrition.
“I think most of us are destroying our bodies with food. I try to help my clients eat better so they won’t need so many medications. Massage can help people heal their muscles and bones. I’ve studied the art form. Eventually I’d like to have my own business to I can help more people find cures through food.”
Jennifer’s family is from Honduras, and people there live longer, healthier lives, she says. She credits their diets for their longevity. “People here in the U.S. die at 40, 50, 60 years old. That’s too young. In Honduras, we cultivate all of our own food—we get all the vitamins we need.”
Jennifer doesn’t have room in her current apartment to grow much food but she plans to one day. Her father, who has diabetes, has controlled his blood sugar levels through eating more cinnamon.
“That was a real lightbulb moment for me. It starts with your loved ones. Then you want to try and help everyone.”
