How to Get to Us
CubeSmart Mount Vernon is located on S Fulton. It’s about a half mile past Dunkin Donuts, and just behind Columbus Diner. It is also accessible by public transportation via Bee-Line Buses 60, 42, and 55.
Around Us
Once you’re done with moving everything into your storage unit, grab a bite to eat at Columbus Diner right next door. Offering typical diner fare, it is recommended by our manager as a good local restaurant. Other places nearby include Panera, Dunkin Donuts, and Dave and Busters.
Looking for a fun place to go with the family? Take them to Willson’s Woods Park, a 23 acre, county-owned park. There is admittance year-round, and in 2010 it received the highest inspection score of all Westchester County’s parks. Its Wilson’s Waves section is decked out with a wave pool, water slides, a water playground, a spray deck, and an English Tudor style bathhouse that was built in 1928. Splash around and enjoy the day in this fun summer spot.
Saint Paul’s Church, built in 1763, is a national historic site located in the southern part of the city, just across the street from our Mount Vernon facility. During the American Revolution, it served as a military hospital prior to and following the Battle of Pell’s Point. Walking tours of this historic site are available on weekdays, and Church Tower Walks occur every other Friday (weather permitting) at 3 pm. Occurring approximately a mile away, the Battle of Pell’s point created a delay of the British/Hessian army that was long enough to allow General George Washington and his troops to retreat to White Plains.
Granted cityhood in 1892, Mount Vernon today is officially part of Westchester County. In 1917, E.B. White, award-winning author of Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little, graduated from Mount Vernon High School. Other natives include Denzel Washington, Art Carney, and baseball player Ralph Branca of the Brooklyn Dodgers, who played alongside Jackie Robinson and was the pitcher during the historic baseball moment “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World”.
