This is one of a series of articles spotlighting our storage facilities and neighborhoods.
When you think of Fort Lauderdale, you might recall its past reputation for being a top spring break destination. While still a fun place de-stress, Fort Lauderdale has become a bustling mecca for both residents and businesses alike. With beautiful sunny weather and streets lined with palm trees, and comparable costs of living to other Floridian cities, Fort Lauderdale is a force to be reckoned with. The Fort Lauderdale population is over 180K and it’s growing.
This sunny destination has something for everyone. If you’re relocating as a family, rejoice as Fort Lauderdale has many reputable schools in which to enroll the kiddies. When it comes to staying active, that’s no problem. How could you stay inside with weather like this? Get involved with water sports, hiking, and more.
For those looking to start a business, Fort Lauderdale is your cheaper alternative to Miami. The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce reports that over 95% of business owners considered the city as an “excellent or good” place to do business. And for investors? Many are now scouting out the cheaper land alternatives to that of Miami, making Fort Lauderdale a hot spot.
Once you’ve taken the plunge and relocated to the sunshine state, our CubeSmart Self Storage facility in the Dorsey-Riverbend neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale is your go-to for storage needs.
Take a Tour of This Location:
You won’t be needing the winter coats and bulky jackets you needed from the north, but they’ll be nice to have when you visit back home for the holidays. We have multiple storage units (and in different sizes) to accommodate whatever you need to store from boats and jet-skis to inventory for your business. Our friendly Fort Lauderdale team will gladly assist you with packing supplies, handcarts, and use of our free moving truck. Once you’re done, you can feel good knowing we have 24/7 video recording of the facility for your piece of mind.
Fort Lauderdale Apartments vs Storage Cost Analysis
At 306 West Dixie Court, just half a mile from our Northwest 1st Street CubeSmart, a 1-bedroom apartment rental starts at $848 for 604 square feet, while a 2-bedroom starts at $1,300 for 1,100 square feet. For that extra one bedroom in the surrounding neighborhood, you’ll pay an additional $452 every month (or more). If you are looking for an extra bedroom as a means of storage and not for a roommate, you can save an extra $300 a month by renting a 10×10 climate-controlled storage unit at CubeSmart. For $134 a month (as of 10/4/18), a 10×10 climate-controlled storage unit fits the contents of a standard 2-bedroom apartment (keep your tetris skills fresh), so you can keep your 1-bedroom Dorsey-Riverbend apartment and conveniently store seasonal items, clothing, and more. No need to fork over the extra money each month for more apartment square footage.
Dorsey-Riverbend | Rental Price | Square Footage | Price/Square Foot |

Two Bedroom | $1,300* | 1100 sqft | $1.18 |

Things to Do in Fort Lauderdale
There’s so many things to do when you’re in this city. It just depends what you’re in the mood for.
Fort Lauderdale Beach
South Florida beaches are known for their beauty and sun-kissed sand. The waters are warm and it’s hard not to feel relaxed when you’re surrounded by swaying palm trees. When you’re done soaking up the sun, take a jog down the brick-lined beachfront promenade for some exercise and people-watching.
Las Olas Boulevard
One of the most popular attractions for tourist and locals alike, head to downtown Fort Lauderdale to Las Olas Boulevard. This iconic downtown destination is home to tons of shops, restaurants, things to do, and more. Las Olas is in the heart of the city and is a must-see when you’re new to the area.
Fort Lauderdale Resturants
When you worked up an appetite after putting your things in storage, grab a quick bite to eat at Laspada’s Hoagies, which is rated 5-stars and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor. Just a short walk from our Fort Lauderdale self-storage facility is Snappers Fish & Chicken, if you’re looking for a taste of Florida.
Because no dinner is complete without dessert, head to Yo Mama’s Ice Cream on Sunrise Lane to finish the day off with a sweet treat. And in Florida, ice cream is always a good option.
Fort Lauderdale Attractions
If you’re newer to Fort Lauderdale, the best way to get acquainted with your new city is to take a boat tour. Fort Lauderdale boat tours cruise around the area’s waterways and, who knows, maybe you’ll see an alligator or two if it’s an Everglades tour. If boats aren’t your thing, consider taking a Segway tour instead. For the kiddos, check out the Museum of Discovery and Science (and only a half a mile from our facility) for some science fun.
