I am filing this complaint regarding CubeSmart’s handling of my long-term rental account at the 82 Fair Street location. I was a customer since 2004. After CubeSmart acquired the facility in 2017, my rent increased incrementally from $436 to $915.76 for the same unit, without proper notice, while amenities and maintenance declined significantly. In November 2025, CubeSmart claimed my autopay card was denied. My bank confirmed no charge attempt was made. CubeSmart refused to retry the payment, demanded in-person payment, imposed penalties, charged a $36 administrative fee, and threatened lockout and auction. The issue was an expired card, which they refused to update. Notices were allegedly sent to an outdated email address they also refused to correct. As a customer of over 20 years, I found this treatment unacceptable, misleading, and punitive. CubeSmart’s practices appear designed to extract additional fees rather than resolve billing issues fairly.

I rented at this location for over 20 years. Since CubeSmart took over in 2017, rent nearly doubled (from $436 to $915) while services declined—reduced climate control, closed bathroom, no on-site staff, poor cleaning, and a broken gate for months. They falsely claimed my autopay card was denied, refused to retry it, threatened lockout and auction, and charged penalties and fees for an expired card issue they wouldn’t help fix. Notifications were sent to outdated contact info they refused to update. This company takes advantage of long-term customers who trust autopay. Check your bills closely. I do not recommend CubeSmart.

Emmanuel the storage manager is very helpful and on top of things. I was able to get a unit the second day I requested. And move out smoothly within 1 hr. The unit is clean and there is no bug the whole 17 months I stored my furnitures there.

The young man at the desk in Wilton was wonderful. Followed us to the Norwalk facility to make sure we got the right unit and to show us around and go over entering and exiting protocols. Fantastic. Thank you for a seamless experience!!!

My experience with CubeSmart is that the check in process is painless and easy although they ‘force’ you to buy their insurance. They also tends to raise rates multiple times in a given year . They do have clean well ventilated, well lighted facilities.

Todd and Emmanuel were both awesome and made the leasing process a breeze.

Really excellent service from the Fair Street Cube Smart crew. Front start to finish, clear, easy and when I ran into a snag Roberta made sure that I was reimbursed. Highly recommend.

Service and facility was good

The CubeSmart in Wilton Connecticut has been absolutely wonderful. The people who work in this office have always been accommodating answered any questions that I have and have been solution-oriented with my need for storage. I know that my need for storage is only temporary and it's going to be sad that when I leave I'm not going to be able to see the people who work here because they've become part of my life. I recommend this location to anyone who's looking to store items, it has always been clean feels safe parking has been fruitful and I don't ever feel like I have to worry about my items being at this location. The unit was very clean, safe and easy to access. Staff has always been available to address questions. I only though rent increases were somewhat steep, although that has been the general trend with rents.

Horrible experience. Find another storage facility. While my things were there my monthly rate randomly went up with no warning. I moved everything out within my move out date but yet they STILL charged my credit card (that i never gave them authority to use) to charge me after the move out date. Horrible management. They stole from me and claimed i hadn’t moved out by my move out date, which i did. All my hard work of moving my stuff out by the date i was given, all for nothing. Shame on this establishment for stealing money from their costumers.

This post is for my father Andy who has been a Cubesmart customer for years and has always had good service. The units are extremely clean (no dust!) and the climate control is perfect. This facility (Norwalk CT) was great till two years when the fired the CubeSmart staff who were very helpful and began managing the facility from the Wilton CT office. They also permanently closed the facility restroom which required one to find one elsewhere.

I found storage space very clean. I think that the Manager needs to clone herself, as she valiantly manages two Facilities.

I thought everything was a fee-related. Really try to gouge you with fees.

The monthly storage rate was raised significantly shortly after the first month. The company gives a good rate initially to get your business and then increases it. They make it appear as though you have a contracted price but they can raise it any time they want.

Always easy access to my storage unit.

Though this particular building looked good, there were little staff there which gave us pause for security reasons.

Renting the cube was super easy and the staff answered all of my questions. The unit was spic and span when I moved in, and the team was helpful and available despite the pandemic. I also appreciated the covid related safety measures that were put in place. They helped me feel comfortable and safe when accessing my unit.

I have rented cubes before at this location and it is always a pleasure to get assisted by Brenda and Trust. They are very professional and very helpful. I would definitely recommend cube smart to all my friends and family. I was definitely wowed!

I had the pleasure of seeing Tara on my visit. She was very nice and knew the answers to all the questions I had. Good employees like her are hard to come by now a days. I appreciate your help once again Tara and I wish you nothing but the best :)

This storage facility is very nicely run, clean, orderly and easy to use. I used to use the facility right across from it, but the rates here were better and I didn't feel I needed 24-hour access. I'd like to give a special shout out to Chris Martinez, General Manager at this particular CubeSmart on Fair Street in Norwalk, CT. In my experience, Chris has always been friendly, helpful and reliable--he is the person who opened my account there several months ago. But he went beyond the usual call of duty this past week when he called me with a security concern and then offered a temporary fix so I could handle the issue at a much more convenient time for my schedule (I live a good 1/2 drive from the place--so he saved me an immediate hour-long round trip at an inconvenient time). It's clear to me Chris really cares about his customers and the facility--which is immaculate and a pleasure to visit. I highly recommend this particular storage facility.

My unit flooded ON THE SECOND FLOOR, and it ruined everything in my unit. The leak was two months old- a busted pipe- no one thought to fix it. Thank God I bought the insurance because without it they planned to do nothing at all.

I had the best experience with this Cube Smart. The manager Anthony was great! He was very patient with me because I was shopping around different storage companies. He showed me 5 different units and answered any questions I had. He was personable and extremely helpful. He should be the owner haha. Chris at the front desk was helpful as well he helped me with my set up process and got in and out. I really recommend this storage company. Looking forward to move my stuff in.

This storage facility is super clean, well-priced and easy to access with it’s extended hours, ample dollies and garage door entrances. The best part of this facility is hands down the manager Tara - she is a superstar with customer service. My husband and I were running late on a sunday and she waited for us to arrive without putting on any pressure. She patiently answered our extensive list of questions, showed us our options and walked us through the whole process. What a gem! The next day she called to follow up with us and make sure we were able to unpack without troubles. Folks, they don’t make managers like this anymore. If you want a great product delivered by a genuine caring employee, Tara and Cubesmart are where its at!

Very good customer service, Chris at the front desk is extremely professional, knowledgeable, kind and Throurogh. He takes very goid care of the facility and makes sure you get all the details. I recommend this location just based off of his skills alone. Facility is also very clean and well organized.

Everything worked very well, the ordering of a space and the check in was very fast and simple. The manager, Tara, was extremely helpful and explained well what needed to be explained, so overall it was a very positive experience.

The Cube Smart team at 82 Fair Steeet in Norwalk is superb! Always professional , quick to respond and help manage the process of moving in and out . The manager, Chris, was great! I arrived on the date I'd set for moving when I made my online reservation, and despite me having never answered the calls to confirm my reservation, he was expecting me and ready to show me the unit right when I arrived. The facility is well kept and very clean. The units are a good size and decently priced. Their elevators are pretty big and in good condition and they have dollies for transporting stuff. Cameras are everywhere and security is tight. The whole building is climate controlled. Access to the storage units has good hours and they are extended beyond regular office hours. In short, I was very pleased by both the conditions of the place and with the customer service provided and I am very happy to store my stuff at this location over any of the other ones I considered! Chris and his facility and his employees have my full stamp of approval!!

Junior & Chris were very helpful when my husband & I were looking for a storage unit. They patiently showed us several options. When we arrived on "move in" day, Chris told us that another unit on the 2nd floor close to the elevator vs the 4th floor had opened up. We grabbed it!! Signed all the papers and returned with our boxes to "move in". When we got to the unit, it appeared to be smaller than the one we originally reserved. Chris offered to get a tape measure and compare the two and sure enough it was 6 inches shorter. Chris explained that the units are advertised as "approximately X square feet" and showed us even more available units. However he could see that my husband and I were disappointed and he immediately offered to give us a discount for the first month to "make sure we were happy". We liked the storage unit facility – – it was clean, well lit and very conveniently located for us. So Chris's offer of the discount was a good effort on his part to keep us as customers. After all there are two other storage units right next-door!!! I also liked the option to have auto bill pay every month – – one less thing for me to remember! We will be there a while – – and I expect it to be a good experience all around.

The general manager, Chris, was extremely helpful in my selection of which unit I would need - taking him time to show me the different sizes I was considering. I was also very impressed that he was picking up any litter he spotted as we walked the building - elevator, hallways, etc. This is an extremely clean facility!! Very friendly and helpful staff. The customer service at this location is amazing. Chris is the guy to deal with. Always providing great service with a smile. We highly recommend storing with Cube Smart. Prices are reasonable....and did I mention, great customer service....For the past three years. Amazing.

Considering I was not excited by moving myself to begin with, it was an especially pleasant surprise and experience working with Chris (GM) of Cubesmart. His professionalism, knowledge of the facility and offerings and willingness to help made an experience that could have otherwise been a nightmare, far more bearable.
