We traveled from Nashville, TN and had a pretty rough day. The apartment complex my daughter was moving to could not accommodate the size sofa she had. We had to put her new sofa in storage and go buy a new smaller one until her lease ends. We were tired and frustrated from traveling 12 hours to get here, when we finally found Extra Space Storage. There were two young ladies employed by you, Ms. Jolene Smith and Ms. Lakita C who exhibited the best customer service. They went above and beyond in ensuring that we had everything we needed. Erika, at Extra Space Storage in Hyattsville, is why this location is successful. There are basic elements that make a good facility. This place is well-lit, temperature-controlled, and easily accessible, and the access hours work for most cutter schedules. The service I experienced today takes this place from good to great. Erika is highly competent and has a calming demeanor that immediately puts me at ease, as we all know that moving can be very stressful full-time; she makes the leasing process easy and makes sure that you know you are a priority when you visit her store. When there was an urgent matter, she was not in a panic. She masterfully walked me through the issue and guided me to the solution. The urgent matter was my fault, and Erika apologized, which was not her responsibility. She understands that it's essential to keep the customer experience cheerful and the transaction task oriented. Now I have to figure out how to clone her, so she is everywhere else I go. When I call the bank, when I am on the airplane, when I go to work, when I go to the doctor's office, and when I go out to dinner, I need Erika to be in those places. Thats not likely, but until then, I look forward to working with her whenever I visit the Extra Space Storage. I have lived all over the country and have encountered all types of service along the way. You can trust me when I say, "Erika is the Gold Standard"!

I've had my ups and downs with different storage facilities, as I have been using them off and on for over a decade now. I've gotten used to dealing with the inconveniences of having my property on someone else's property for long periods of time, and even now, it's still a bother. The worst part has been dealing with the property staff, because they come in all different types but usually they share a certain unsavory demeanor... but I got the most pleasant surprise here, with the manager Erika. I got a tour of the property and had not called ahead, it was clean and I was able to have all of my questions answered. She took time to show me a few differently sized units and informed me of what to expect renting at her facility. She let me know what she feels would best fit my needs because I told her a bit about the property I'd be storing. She even discussed with me ways to pack my items safely and to maximize space. I will recommend her and this facility to anyone I know. I'll probably be renting here as long as I'm able to because I prefer dealing with her over others at any other facility in the area. Thank you Erika, I hope you're promoted because you should be the face of ExtraSpace.

I signed up online for a unit here because of the close proximity, good reviews, and my familiarity with the location. The business is located inside of the Mall at Prince George's, formerly Prince George's Plaza. It's literally accessible from the mall loading dock, inside the lower level of the building. It's easy to get in and out of and provides cover from the rain. You'll sometimes see employees from the various stores taking out trash. Because of the trash, there can be a smell in the loading dock area. The units are accessible outside of the mall hours, 7AM-9PM every day, I believe, which is a nice window of availability. The units themselves appear secure and clean. While I've only recently become a renter, I've already made several visits. On my most recent visit, I saw two large, dead roaches inside the facility. There are traps spread around the units, so the pest issue is at least being addressed. Overall, I'm happy with the unit and facility with one major issue, which is why I could only go three stars. The distance from the ground level to the loading dock is about 5'. There are two powered lifts that serve the building where my unit is located, but no ramps. Currently, both powered lifts are out, so all items have to be manually lifted to the loading dock before they can be placed on a cart to roll to the unit. I was alone for most of my trips to the facility, and fortunately I was able to lift everything to the dock without a major issue. But if there was anything too heavy to lift alone, I'm not sure what I would have done.

First, the good points: The office person we dealt with, Jolee, is very professional, helpful, and nice. Second, the space itself was clean and secure, with no visible signs of rodent presence there or in corridors or docks. Now the inexcusable things: (1) To unload or load, your vehicle must drive into a tunnel under the mall. The semi containing all of our household goods could enter the tunnel without a problem , but, ridiculously, the ceiling dips so much by the docks that the semi could not get in there. What were you thinking, Extra Space? Our driver had to exit, park in the mall lot, and rent a UHaul van to shuttle back and forth. (2) Once at the dock, the electric lift that raises your stuff to the dock platform was broken. (3) So was the only other lift on that dock. (4) Even the people elevator to get you back up to street level and parking was broken. I mean, what the heck is going on here?? They make it impossible to use the facility for the one and only function it is there to provide. Our move was a cross country move. In picking this place I used location and I studied reviews. I phoned them to discuss the size of available spaces, hours, security. But who the heck thinks to ask if a moving truck can actually get close enough to unload? Or whether the lifts actually work? It really makes me question what this business is really about.

Jolene was fantastic. Very professional, attentive to my needs, went out of her way to make sure I understood everything, and that my experience was 5 stars. Very personable and just all around cool person. I was set up and out in 15 min max. If I could rate higher I would. The place is underground which I thought was weird at first, but definitely makes for a unique storage place. It was clean. All in all, I have no complaints

All the ladies working at the Hyattsville location were the best and very professional. In and out with the perfect size unit. The place is very clean and in the most perfect location for me. Pricing was WAY better than the old facility I just moved out of. I would definitely recommend this specific location to anyone needing a storage unit.

I have always chosen to rented at extra space storage. They are always clean and their staff are friendly. I called the wrong number to pay my bill and spoke with Erica. She works at this location which I don’t rent at but helped me anyways. It was easy and simple. She could have made me call my location to pay and been rude because I’m not her customer. She put the company and customer first. You do not see that often in business anymore. Thank you for the wonderful staff.
