As a women do not go here by yourself. I had an account where two men waited for me to exit and started screaming swears at me wanting to enter. When I asked them to please just enter their pin the male just put his hand to avoid the gate from closing. The second male started beeping the horn for me to get out the way. There was staff in the office who simply looked out the window and sat down. Once I saw the situation was escalating and I was alone I parked and went inside where I was told “I thought yall were together” and “well there’s cameras here” I felt unsafe. As I was leaving the men were then exiting again taunting me and yelling profanity. I will be looking for another place immediately! As a women do not go alone

The worst. Its like a haunted house . I rented a unit over the phone; then a few days later I went to bring a copy of my ID and to get the code to access the unit . When I was there I told the guy to bring me to my unit so I can see it; Ohhh my goodness!!! Thank God I went to see it before I brought all my stuff. He was telling me that if I hear some noises dont think is someone else in the building; im by myself , I was like so there’s ghosts in here? He didn’t respond. Then he made it clear that theres rats ?? and that was the end . I called back the next day and canceled.

The employees were nice and willing to help however, the facility I had so far been less than 30 days and has been very inconvenience. I can’t go in and out of my building without getting help because the lock is messed up almost hurt my back and my wrist trying to open the elevator because the elevator would not open after it came down as an employee tell me oh the lock just broke the elevator just broke. I also had a complaint of the dolly which the employee immediately replaced it with a very good one.so my new shiny paint job on my vehicle almost was damaged twice trying to get to my unit as other tenants were spray painting there truck in open and it was windy I had to back up the make 2 u turns before i even reached my unit also also 6 PM is the latest you can go on your unit. If you get off at five by the time you get home, you can’t go to your storage unit that needs to change. It’s really ridiculous but the people that are spray paint in the parking lot, they got later access that don’t make sense. I’m assuming because I know they said some people can get later access people that have their own business is what I was told that’s not fair. That’s not right like how can you not trust the person that’s renting there if you’re renting to them why should we trust you without belonging? I should be able to access my stuff later than 6 PM

To whom this may concern: When I went to go rent the unit, their unit was too small And you could also see rodent feces all over the unit. I spoke with the manager, and he came down with the broom and was going to sweep it. I asked if they had traps and if this was going to continue to happen, he insured me. That they were going to refill all the traps throughout the units because I upsized my unit I had rented on June 7. We didn’t know that you needed your own lock and they don’t have the option to buy one right there like others do so we had to go buy one when I went back to the storage to put my lock on there was a lock on there, when I called to the front desk, Tyler answer the phone and I told him what is this lock on my storage he said it’s a complementary lock. I asked him to come and remove it because I have my own lock. I had stuff to put inside a Very big beautiful mirror that went to my bedroom set that had LED lights which cost me $500 just for a mirror As I waited over an hour, he never came to takeoff the lock, so I left the mirror beside my Storage unit call Tyler back. I told him I left my lock unlocked so when he had time to go and take the other lock off if you could please put my mirror in my storage He had then told me that the person gave him the wrong storage unit number he told me no problem. I went there again. My code was not working and I sat there for over an hour waiting for someone to be in the office. No one came so then I returned the next day and Mario was working. I told him what had happened. He said he had just seen my mirror yesterday there the he said that Tyler put my mirror in the company storage that he just seen the day before, so I asked him to go look he said he did not see no mirror He was supposed to go look around and call me and let me know if anything no phone call back call again. Spoke with Tyler . Tyler then told me if I had protection on my storage that it would be covered now I called today and I speak with Mario and he tells me that I can’t use that option because the mirror was not inside my storage unit, which was not my fault. They came and took off their lock the day I came and put my lock on my mirror would’ve been in my storage, but the way he was talking to me was so unprofessional and disrespectful. I just seen a review that made me wanna throw up if I go to my storage unit this weekend because it’s been so hot and so humid these last couple weeks if my storage looks anything like the last review , I will go above and beyond I feel so bad for the people that pretty much lost all their stuff due to rodent feces

To Whom It May Concern, I’m just going to copy and edit my email to them. I rent a storage unit from North Shore Self Storage and on Father’s Day I went to my storage unit to retrieve an item. When I opened my storage door there was an instant smell of decomposition! After looking inside my unit I discovered a deceased rodent and all of my belongings not limited to; family photos, clothes, sneakers, drawings, Christmas decorations, children toys, doll houses, kitchen cookware, sneakers, sporting equipment, safe, and an air conditioner that were all covered in rodent feces. I would like to file an insurance claim therefore I requested information and the correct papers so that I may do so. I have taken video and photographs as evidence. I also called the number for this storage facility and was transferred to the corporate office in upstate NY where I spoke to “Rich” who instructed me to take photos and videos as evidence prior to filing contacting the facility and filing a claim. I asked them to be fully advised that I am unable to visit my unit during normal business hours as I’m employed, however, I am available to meet Monday thru Friday after 5PM and from 9am to 5pm during the weekends. I read some of the reviews that invoked rodent infestation and it seems as this has been an ongoing issue and in the latest victim. I haven’t cleaned the unit as of yet. I couldn’t. I didn’t have the stomach. Today is June 17, 2023 and we’re heading into a heat wave! I’m so screwed. I’m homeless and this is the facility myself and family chose to protect our belongings. It was everything we had. All my daughter’s drawings from the moment she was able to hold a crayon up until we became homeless, 10/31/23, are now destroyed. All her toys, destroyed! I have A pair of Nike hyper dunk breast cancer edition sneakers from 2015 that are destroyed! Two doll houses I built for my daughter are destroyed; Covered with feces and What I suspect as rodent urine. Sporting equipment destroyed! Sensitive documents destroyed! Is it possible to clean any of this stuff? Will they hire someone to clean out my storage facility while I supervise?? Has anybody experienced the complete process of filing an insurance claim with this storage facility regarding their property in their storage unit being destroyed/contaminated with rodent infestation and what was the results? I also asked them to pleas confirm this email and respectfully reply with the information requested and provided them my phone number.

I was quite happy here when I first rented four years ago. The property was clean then and I was able to enter through a door closest to my unit. There were always two trolleys to help move items. At some point the door became locked and entry was permitted through only one door with coded entry. This door was at the opposite end of the building from my unit.. I understand it was for safety, and to keep out those not renting. When I began to move my items out of the unit over a month ago, I noticed a lot of trash strewn on my level. It remained there for weeks. There was also no trolley to help me move. When I next returned, there was someone hanging out just outside of one of the units and when I passed by, he went inside and pulled the door shut. There was a strong odor of pot permeating the hall. I reported the person and trash to the front desk. Yet when I returned the following week, the trash was still there, and also outside around the building. I do not believe the buildings or grounds are well kept anymore. I’m glad this was the perfect time to end my rental.

They have a mice infestation and do not take any proper care of your items. Couches, chairs, bedroom sets, mattresses, shoes and other damages of personal belongings were done by this infestation. A refund of 500$ was offered even though the storage unit was being paid during a period of 3 years insuring safety on my mothers items, that they did not care for. DO NOT GO HERE! Absolutely discouraging! SAVE YOUR MONEY & time!

We were customers of Northshore Self Storage for 11+ years. They continued to charge us for the unit 6 weeks after we moved out. Despite numerous calls, emails - they have never refunded the over-charge, although they readily agreed it was an accounting error on their part. It is now too late to dispute on our credit card. I opened the contract for a storage bin at Northshore Self Storage in January 2022. I have few complaints about the physical storage facility: it was reasonably clean, if not very modern, provided wheeled carts to move items from the elevator to our storage unit, and the facility was kept at reasonable temperatures and humidity so that items were kept in good condition. One issue with the facility was that the door to the building our unit was in was continuously unlocked over the past several months due to the need to replace a part for the electronic door entry system, and thus anyone could enter the building who was able to come in the gate. I decided to end the storage contract earlier this month. While this was partly due to the ability to relocate the items to another in-house storage, I might have considered keeping them there longer but for the several price increases that occurred over the relatively short period we were there with Northshore Self Storage. From an initial advertised price of less than $70/month for the unit, required insurance brought it up to nearly $90. Management's policies were inflexible when I asked if this insurance could be waived due to coverage under another policy. Then two price increases within the space of a year had us at $150/month, which seems high for the space and location, and frankly well above inflation and any reasonable increase in costs. I will say that Tina, who is relatively new in her position managing the location, was extremely helpful and friendly upon our termination and check-out. She inquired about the past history, and kindly agreed to waive what would have been an additional termination fee given that their policy is not to pro-rate months even when customers have given the stipulated 15-day advance notice (which means in effect it is a 30-day advance notice). Her professionalism left a better impression than what might otherwise have been the case. I would recommend doing some serious price comparisons, and seeing if you can lock in prices for at least the first year or longer, before renting.

When searching for a storage units, Northshore Self Storage units were advertised on third party websites much lower than than the actual price. Advertised price was $376 with no monthly fee, when contacting Northshore Self Storage, actual price was $500 including a $15 monthly fee. When asking about this I was told by corporate "oh, you can't trust those sites". After negotiating a 20% discount I was promised that my rate will be locked in and not subject to increases for 12 months. After only 2 months of renting the unit I received an E-mail that my rental fee was being increased to $450 a month. On top of that I was only given 7 days advance notice before the next billing cycle, so in order for me to vacate my unit I was forced to pay the $35 late vacate fee. My experience was sub optimal due to false advertising (that is still up today) and promises made by corporate that were broken only 2 months later. I will not be recommending Northshore Self Storage to anyone that is looking for self storage and will be taking my hard earned money somewhere else.

This place is now a ripoff! They raised the rate on my storage unit and then stopped the “temperature regulation “ (climate control). It has been sweltering in there. No fan or a/c anymore. No lift either. It broke and they have no plans to ever fix it per the onsite customer service employee. And no plans to temperature regulate ever despite the fact that I’m paying a premium price for that and they won’t lower my rate. I have already started emptying my unit (in the sweltering heat and having to carry things down stairs since there is no lift. Good riddance!

Terrible experience! They do not answer the telephone. The manager is never available when we go to the facility. We need a refund as we are disabled and cannot walk up the stairs. Have not used the unit.

I moved my stuff out over 2yrs ago and I just got an email to ask me to come back. Sorry but I don't think that will ever happen. I had my unit about 10yrs and complained time after time that something was leaking on my stuff in the unit. NOTHING was done to correct this and had to throw out 2 computers, 2 tvs, my sons bike in mint condition and 2 suitcases with designer clothes had to throw out. I showed them the ceiling of the unit and they were to fix it, but never did. When Prime took over I was told they would not reimburse me, so NO, I would never go back not would I refrre to anyone I know.

Easy set up, solid price. Paul at the front was helpful Edit:7/23/24 I used a storage unit here for 2 years. My price was raised about 2 months after moving in, the elevator to get to my stuff is basically never working, and the unit is filled with rat feces upon moveout. The vast majority of these 5 star reviews are from people like me- directly asked by an employee to leave a review. Upon moving out from my rat feces filled, unable to be accessed unit, I do think it’s worth updating this review. 2 stars because the man I spoke with on the phone on 7/23 was incredibly well composed and nice. Still doesn’t make my overall experience with this company pleasant at all.

Not happy the prices, hidden fees and hoops you jump through to rent a unit are ridiculous. Making you buy their insurance when showing a valid homeowners policy is a veiled attempt for more money in their pocket. The units for the prices should be in pristine condition and were far from it. The door was broken on bottom and contract started running before it was fixed. Poor business policies. I would not recommend this business to any of my friends or family and I told them that as well. There are better places out there folks.

Well kept facility - clean, easy access. Staff doors lots of checks to make sure things are safe and in order. Very friendly too. My storage unit has high ceilings, which is a nice bonus

Price is comparable to other storage places. Never had an issue with access or availability of carts. One of the elevators has been broke for months, but other then that, good. Hard to ever get a hold of over the phone directly with the office at the storage unit and not the general customer service though if issues.. have to go in person.

He was amazing at his position, he explained everything thoroughly and showed me all the units that I was interested. It was pleasant working with him and he’s extremely friendly! We had a great experience with Northshore Self Storage. Not only was the storage space what we needed, but the front office was always able to help with our needs. We suddenly had to move out of state and they worked with us regardless of the 15 day notice. One thing I do wish they had were temperature controlled units. Other than that GREAT experience and would recommend.

It's ridiculous that during a Pandemic my fee has went up like $150. Roughly $50 last year and $100 just recently. That's more inflation than my apartment. That is unacceptable. I wanted to keep it until I buy my home but I'll be looking for a cheaper option. There are better options people.

Northshore self storage has been a very valuable help to me in storing and protecting items which I want to continue to own but currently do not have space for everything in my residence. I moved from a home to a condominium and that created a need for extra space. Northshore has been trouble-free and highly professional. I recommend them.

Excellent and superb service. I have in the past rented at 2 other places. This was by far my best experience. I had all my questions answered without having to ask any. The whole contract was reviewed and explained paragraph by paragraph. The facility is very clean and secure. Staff is excellent!
