Absolutely love this storage unit. The staff is so friendly and kind. They helped me get a unit next to my husband’s, when we realized we needed more storage space. The units are far enough apart that we could easily get a 26 foot U-Haul in and out with plenty of room to unpack, and not be in the way. Cannot recommend them enough.

I'm done with this place. I started off renting a smaller unit and after a few months got a notification that the rent would be going up. I accepted the increase but then shortly realized I was paying more for this small unit than what they advertised for a 10x20. so i move into the 10x20 for $144. not even 6 months later and they were increasing my rent to over $200. i called and complained...and best they could do was cut the increase in half. i'm currently paying $169. now...here we are...approx. 6 months later and my rent is now being increased to $238!! i refuse to call and fight with this place every 4-6 months for rent increases...i'm moving out to a new place with a larger climate-controlled space for less. if you enjoy rent hikes a few times a year...then this is your place.

I found this storage place on spare foot and I wasn’t able to use a credit card online due to travel restrictions and my bank not being the best with customer service. I had the best experience I could imagine. The employees that helped me were unbelievably helpful. They were also so friendly and made things so much easier. I was in a rush and I’ve never had a storage unit before so I wasn’t familiar with the process. I really can’t say how great choosing this place was, I never thought I’d write a review on a storage unit but I had to For one, what a great price and even after I purchased my unit online, I received a call from them and was offered a better unit for even less. Something that doesn’t make sense but they called me to save me money. Second, I get here and was greeted by Ron who from the moment walked in had everything ready and I mean like a mind reader. Had the unit ready, clean which he himself went out of his way to have it cleaner for me before I got there. He had the unit already open for me and had all my paper work ready. Super nice, personable, and attentive to everything Third the entire place looks so clean, from inside the units to even the outside. You can tell that this whole company cares for everything, from customer service on the phone to the in person care as well, even though the storage units themselves are kept in incredible conditions

Ron and Sylvia are two of the best people I’ve met. They greet me with genuine kindness on a daily basis. Ron is constantly on top of facility maintenance and Sylvia is the sweetest person when I call in to the office. Move in was very simple. I signed up over the phone and was able to access my unit that day. I opted for the 10x20 and thought the price per month was perfect for someone like myself. I’ve been very happy with my time here, other than an unexpected rate increase, of 50-60% of my current rate. When I signed up I was uninformed of any potential for a rate increase. I chose prime storage, aka fort storage, due to the price point and then the location. I want to add, Ron brought the increase to my attention and told me he would reach out to district management. That was a great relief and very much appreciated. As a small business owner, every dollar is accounted for, so the unexpected rate increase was a rather sour point on what’s been an excellent storage experience. Overall the staff exceeds expectations, location is good and hours are great (6am-10pm). I hope we can get the rate increase resolved and continue what’s been an overall good experience.

I had a unit since 2019. I chose fort storage because it seemed well maintained. Fast forward to yesterday. I had to throw away a full 1920s bedroom set due to a palmetto bug infestation. I don’t mean a couple - I mean hundreds. Also I lost irreplaceable items because of the feces from the bugs. Over $1000 worth of clothes plus items from deceased loved ones - including other miscellaneous items. DO BETTER. Also with all my monies paid into this unit - I’m expecting a call from management and compensation. If they don’t make the first move - I will! (Unit 120)

After reserving the unit online, I was assisted by Marsia when I arrived at the facility. She was exceptionally professional and she presented me with the deals they were running which were better than the price I reserved it for! She showed me the storage unit before renting which helped me ensure the space was big enough for my items. I rented a total of 2 units at the facility from mid 2018 through Feb 2023. The unit I rented in early 2020 had multiple increases more than doubling the original rental rate from mid 2020 to early 2022. In early 2023 they were going to hike up the rent another 30$ a month. So I gave notice, it felt like pure price gouging swindle at this point. I moved my stuff a couple of weeks later. I received my move out confirmation and about 3 weeks of leave a review requests after leaving. Fast forward 4 months and I receive a collection notice from a company in CA. Turns out it's the storage place trying swindle a last pay off. I had a zero balance when I moved. I gave notice and I left the unit clean. I followed up on email after exiting to be clear I expected no further charges to my card on file. Didn't hear zero from the swindler company. I called and got a run around corporate answering service that promised I would get a call back, I didn't. So now I have to take time to file complaints with the VA AG office and dispute with the collection company. You can decide if this is the kind of hassle you want to deal with.

Beware ! No surveillance as advertised at this facility, we had a large theft and staff were unwilling to help us or the police investigation - had to wait 2 weeks to find out the cameras are on but not recording! They were unwilling to give us an incident report or acknowledge this had happened. The guy that stole our property began to sell on marketplace the next day and he has access to a unit at this facility. After no help from facility I reached out to “prime storage group” who have promised someone will reach out but I still haven’t heard anything back This is not a secure facility- I asked if management/staff could kindly inform customers of cut fence, major theft and No surveillance and was told that’s against Company policy, so write a review ??

The storage facility is clean and secure. If I had one complaint it would be the increase in pricing for the unit. It seems my rental price has increased twice within the past 3-4 years. Other than that I have no other complaints.

I will never recommend, infested, maintenance is not properly maintained, do not honor grandfather clauses as stated whdn owners changed hands, turn off climate control after hours. I was locked in before cuz their system forgot about day daylight saving time, and Virginia beach policeman had to help me out and help move items to other lite bay. No after hour emergency. Notifications of emergencies are not followed by protocol. Lie, you dont do anything to resolve, but raise rent and not due maintenance. To yhe point, where im in contact with Lawyer. Negligence.

After the first year, my rate went up $12/month. This year I just got a notice that the rental was almost doubling! From $93 to $168. That type of hike is unbelievable. If I knew, I would’ve never started there in the first place. I only gave 2 stars since it’s a clean facility. I’m actually cancelling prior to my renewal next month.

The 1 star is solely based on one very important thing - feeling as though you have stolen from me. I have no issues with the storage itself. But to get a letter in the mail to tell everyone that their rates have gone up - not by $5 or $10 or $15 - BUT $21 a month because of "your operating costs" ? Is truly a highway robbery. But you know what - You know chances of anyone emptying their storage because of this increase is just as a pain to do. to have a $21 increase from one month to the next? You didn't even provide people a good lead -"hey folks in the next 3 months there will be an increase" NOPE - hey next month there is an increase of $21. That's truly unprofessional. But hey - You got me right? Nothing anyone can do.

This place is awesome. I called them last second for storage needs. My first phone call ended with me deciding to keep looking, through no fault of their own. They needed a document I didn’t have on me at that second. Less than a minute after hanging up, the manager Brad called me back with a plan that worked great for me and I was all set! Upon arriving, I was shown to my unit. On the way to the unit, the staff helping me stopped to pick up a piece of trash that was on the ground, showing a lot of pride in their facility. They even provide a custom pin code for you (free) and optional 24 hour access ($15 a month). I know none of us like adding onto our bills. But after previous experiences of facilities that don’t have that fee and custom pin code, I’ve seen a lot of units stolen from and even had my own stuff stolen. So that extra piece of mind is one less thing I have to worry about. Staff members were kind, respectful, and super helpful. High recommendations for storing any and all of your home or business needs!

This is the second time our family has used Fort Storage. It is clean, easy to access with my 4 digit code (other storage facilities always give you a 10-digit code that is impossible to remember), and the customer service is wonderful. We needed to see a few different sizes and the woman helping us was kind, considerate, and very professional. I was also able to use my own lock, so I was not required to buy a specific lock from them. Just easy-peazy-lemon-squeezy! :)

Staff is courteous, easy to deal with. We had 2 unit's at one time due to a flood. We had a climate controlled which was very nice. Clean hallways, no sign ever of any bugs or mice. We also had a non climate controlled, still very clean and I think I have seen a spider, but again, no sign of mice or anything else. Highly recommended.

The people, and storage unit was great. Lovely and safe place to have your most sacred and valuable property stored. For about 5 years of renting my unit I could afford the rental fees. Sadly, the fees continued to increase and I had to make the decision to move my items out. When the rental fees shot up to $235.00 a month starting January 2023….I had to vacate!

(Make sure to read the downside below about lack of lighting and 24-hr access fee) ***UPSIDE***: The agent that took care of me, Ashley, is awesome! Knowledgeable, helpful, and a great asset for the company. Nice property, clean units, seem to be well maintained. Their prices are so good I'm canceling both of my 10 x 20 units down the street at AAAA Self Storage ($203 EACH per month!) and combining them into a single 20 x 20 for less than 2/3 the cost! ***DOWNSIDE***: 1. No built-in lighting of any sort (listed in "features" but not actually available), so you have to bring your own! It's dark by 5 pm in the winter time, so it's ridiculous to not even have a simple overhead light with a timer knob like AAAA provides. I went to Home Depot the first night and spent almost $200 on a pair of Ryobi 18V LED lanterns (model P780) plus a couple rechargeable Lithium+ batteries that will provide the light I need. I just have to make sure I have them with me and charged whenever I plan to be in the unit at night. 2. "24-hour access available" means you have to pay an extra $15 per month ($180 /year) for them to click one time to activate that option in the computer!!! Not like extra money was spent on the unit to add that amenity, and it is one of the reasons I chose this facility after reviewing the website. No access after 10 PM without paying the extra fee. Still overall better than at AAAA, glad I made the change.

I needed a storage unit a few years ago and chose Fort Storage based on how close it was to my house I was moving out from - so glad I did. I was happy to see that the facility was brand new when I first got my unit. The staff was extremely helpful in answering any questions I had and also with paying online when I had issues. Now, they offer U-Haul trucks for rent - this is a huge plus for customers who no longer have to take the time to pickup/dropoff rental trucks.
