Getting City Smart: CubeSmart Self-Storage Facility in North Dallas

With a booming art scene and a population of more than 1 million people, Dallas rightfully earns its nickname, the Big-D; however, the neighborhoods just outside the city have equally as much to offer. Residents to the north of the city get the best of both worlds—living only 20 minutes from the center of downtown, while still enjoying a quieter life in suburbia. While the neighborhood of North Dallas is home to established families who have called the area home for many years, the neighborhood just beyond, Far North Dallas, boasts a median age of only 35 years. Regardless of how long residents have called the greater Dallas area home, the need for a little extra room during a move, home renovation, or life event is crucial—especially in Texas where everything, including the number of items in your home, is bigger.

Our free move-in truck is available is a nice perk, especially for Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Dallas students, to help transport all of your belongings without making a million trips back and forth.

North Dallas Apartments vs. Storage Cost Analysis
While Texas has no shortage of land, property in the popular neighborhoods surrounding Dallas can still be pricey. Self-storage is an affordable solution to getting the extra room you need while staying within budget.

On Churchill Way, less than ten minutes from our LBJ Freeway CubeSmart, a 1-bedroom apartment rental starts at $1,425 for 768 square feet. With a 2-bedroom starting at $1,655 for 1,087 square feet, that extra room will cost you an additional $230 every month. Instead, you could save $120 every month by renting a 10×10 climate-controlled storage unit at CubeSmart. For about $109 a month (as of 10/20/16), a 10×10 climate-controlled storage unit fits the contents of a standard 2-bedroom apartment (believe us, we’ve been there done that). You can keep your 1-bedroom North Dallas apartment, and conveniently store a 2-bedroom apartment’s worth of seasonal items, clothing, furniture, and more. Put that $120 a month you would have spent to good use elsewhere!

How to Get to Us
Our store is conveniently located right off Exit 21 on the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway. If you are relatively familiar with the area, the Store Managers explain, “Our store is located on the I-635 service road, on the eastbound side, between the Montfort Road and Preston Road intersections.”

Dallas also offers a great bus system, Dart, that accesses our store, as well. If you ride 488, hop off just one block from our store at the intersection of Harvest Hill and Spurling Roads. If you are a 036 or 486 rider, the stop at the intersection of Preston and Harvest Hill Roads is less than 5 minutes from our doors.

Around (North) D-Town
Fuel up before or after a move at one of North Dallas’ best spots to eat. For pizza, pasta, and salads, Store Mangers Chris and Will recommend Tomato Pie Pizza, just a 6-minute drive from our store. Stop by to celebrate your life transition or treat your buddies to a “thank you” meal after the move.

If you crave juicy burgers, head 15 minutes to Burger Edge for an exceptional patty and craft beer in a relaxed environment. Pull your dancing shoes out of storage and enjoy Burger Edge’s live music Thursday through Saturday night, as well.

While moving into storage can often feel like a drag, North Dallas offers so many things to do and see that it is easy to seize the rest of the day. You do not have to go far; across the street from our store, the Valley View Center at Dallas Midtown offers plenty of restaurants, stores, and even a movie theater. Plan your move-in day just right and you may even get to check out one of the local festivals frequently hosted here, like the Big D BBQ Battle. With live music, beer, and, of course, mouth-watering BBQ, the festival was a perfect way to wind down and see a piece of Dallas after the hustle and bustle of transitioning to a new home.

For artsier folks, check out the MidTown ArtWalk every third Saturday night. Located in the same spot across the street from our store, you can experience the different mediums and styles of over 100 local artists and open art studios.

Dallas may be considered a new city, but there is still rich history just beyond the highways and silver skyscrapers. Constructed in 1897 and restored in 2010, Frankford Church provides a glimpse into the history of the area’s past as a rural farming town at the turn of the century. Only 15 minutes north of our store, it is a must-see as you head out of town after moving in or out of storage.
