In the past few decades, Brooklyn has become the “It” place to live in New York City, causing hipsters and young families to flock to its quaint streets and unique neighborhoods. But, word traveled fast and much of Brooklyn has already diminished in trendiness—largely due to the fact that rents have skyrocketed to Manhattan-level. However, not all of Brooklyn blossomed like Williamsburg and Bedford-Stuyvesant, and some areas are just now having their moment. While the Brooklyn neighborhood of East New York may have been ignored in the past, New York City’s East New York Neighborhood Plan clarifies that this area is not forgotten.
The rampant growth of Brooklyn has finally trickled out to East New York where developers’ eyes are glowing with potential. As the new frontier of New York City, the Department of City Planning took to the drawing board in April of 2016 to create a plan to achieve sustainable long-term growth for this area. The result was the East New York Neighborhood Plan, a blueprint of rezoned areas and new construction to “promote affordable housing, economic development, and improved community resources.”

How to Get to Us
At Liberty and Pennsylvania Avenues just four blocks from our store you can catch the A and C, while the B20 and B83 buses are less than two blocks from us at the corner of Pennsylvania and Pitkin Avenues. Our Senior Manager Simone Bute suggests drivers take the Belt Parkway to Pennsylvania Avenue, then head north until you reach Pitkin Avenue. After a left onto Pitkin, you’ll see our store on the right.
If our Pitkin Avenue self-storage store is just outside of your neighborhood, we have another location at Stanley Avenue further south along Pennsylvania Avenue toward the Belt Parkway.
Around Us
Don’t let a morning of moving make you hangry; stop at Primos Delicatessen to fuel up or treat your moving help to a meal. From our store, walk less than a block towards Granville Payne Avenue, and enjoy all the meaty, salty deliciousness.
After lunch, Highland Park is a can’t-miss spot just a 10-minute drive from our store. You quite literally can’t miss it, because this park sits on a plateau and is part of a greater cluster of parks, cemeteries, and even a golf course stretching from Brooklyn into Queens. With the massive Ridgewood Reservoir, barbecue areas, playgrounds, baseball fields, and tennis and basketball courts, it’s easy to have an afternoon of fun.
After the sun sets, Highland Park keeps the energy going into the evening with events like swing dancing and movie nights all summer long.
