Michelle, the manager at this CubeSmart location, is a huge asset to them. She is accessible, thoughtful, thorough, and very helpfully detail-oriented, as well as being willing to go that extra step (or mile) that can make a positive difference in the often stressful experience of moving and storage. Ever since Cubesmart took over this property the experience has been atrocious. It used to be absolutely amazing and family owned and operated but now it's a corporate disaster. Rate increases have been consistent every few months. Parking spots are rented to box trucks and food trucks that block access to your own unit. I had to wait nearly a week before I finally called the truck owner himself and he came to help me out. The management is questionable. This once favorable rental property has unfortunately gone completely down hill and I will be looking for a different facility to use.

She left a detailed, very helpful voicemail AND waited in the office for me even though I arrived later than expected. She offered to show me the unit I’d reserved, and was very thorough in explaining policies, procedures and charges. This one person made the difference in my choice of storage options.

My rent was increased from $68 to $78 on Nov.1, 2023, then again to $94 ion Sept.1, 2024. I used online bill pay to pay rent. I did not receive the rent increase notice until my check of the old amount was mailed back to me along with the notice. By then, it was past 9/5/2024, which resulted in a $20 penalty. Rent increase of such large amount 2x year is unreasonable. Not sending the rent increase notice in time was outrageous. It almost seemed that it was set up to get as much money from me as possible.

We were looking for about three hours for storage units that would be large enough yet affordable. U-Haul was SO EXPENSIVE for a 10x10 and after all that, they determined that they had NO immediate units available. I submitted an online form at around 5:50 PM and Michelle called me right before they closed at 6 pm that same day to provide assistance. She not only helped me with the online payment option so that we may access the facility immediately, but she also provided great customer service while I was under pressure. Her level of expertise, patience and optimism was timely and soothing. It gets better. The unit was not only on sale, but we also got the first month at no cost even for a short-term storage unit. I learned so much through this experience, but the real kudos goes to Michelle! My only suggestion is to determine how the unit can be more accessible after hours, but I understand the limitations. Thank you soo much, Michelle. Sending many blessings and positivity.

The unit on Sanford Street in Hamden is horribly maintained. The ceiling in my unit was falling down, everything is dirty and the place is just a dump. The customer service at this unit is horrible, Michelle is a joke. (Manager?) She is not helpful at all. She has no knowledge of prices and is unable to answer any questions. The price that I was being charged for this poor service is unbelievable. Perhaps other Cube Smart facilities are better….from what I hear they are. This particular one I do not recommend at all. I am only giving one star because it doesn’t allow you to give zero stars.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. It's extremely unfortunate when big companies buy out family businesses. The smallest storage option which was formerly $67/month is now $170/month just to have the Cubesmart name on it. Not only am I receiving nothing extra for more than double the price, the customer service (which cubesmart has apparently won awards for) is markedly worse. Michelle can't be bothered to answer the phone, and I've found the office door locked and empty during business hours. Needless to say, I'm looking at options elsewhere and I would suggest anyone reading this do the same.
