***UPDATE*** I reached out to the email, as instructed by the commentor. They have ignored me since my claim was denied by insurance. CubeSmart does not care about its customers. _______________________________________________________________ We rented a storage unit at CubeSmart in Old Lyme to hold the contents of our apartment while house hunting. When we visited in June, everything was in great condition. But when we returned in July, we discovered extensive water damage and mold throughout the unit. Many of our belongings were irreparably damaged. We were enrolled in CubeSmart’s SureSmart protection plan, which supposedly includes limited coverage for water damage. However, our claim was denied on the grounds that the damage was due to “flooding,” which is excluded - despite no obvious signs of a flood event and no explanation of what caused the water intrusion. We’ve received no proactive communication from CubeSmart, no investigation results, and no accountability. We trusted CubeSmart to provide a safe, secure place for our belongings and were left with destroyed items and no recourse. When we brought the damage to their attention, we were provided a pamphlet and a number to call - that's it. I cannot recommend this facility based on our experience. If you’re storing anything valuable, I would urge you to look elsewhere.

Alec, the manager of the Old Lyme Cubesmart, is amazing. I inherited a packed storage unit and boat parking space when my dad passed away. The associate agreed to a 9:30 AM time for 11/13/24; from our 4:00 PM phone call on 11/12/24. The associate went out of their way to contact the owner of the unit to thwart my auction win. The owner didn't inform me before I drove all the way down to their location at the agreed-upon time. I was the first customer to walk in the door, and yet the associate still didn't honor our agreement. Lots of things wrong with this.

Terrible place didn’t even get a chance to rent a storage unit. I made a reservation and a set date to start using the unit and the day I was supposed to move stuff in the lady wasn’t even there the whole day I called about 10x and even drove there and no one was there. She only got back to the office 30 minutes before she had to close up and then returned my called.

Long time customer but the rates just got to high. Most other places around are climate controlled, these units are not. After 3 years of business with standard understandable price increases here and there, they gave a months notice and doubled my rent. They advertise "sign up online" discounts and when I inquired about this I was told it is only for NEW customers despite the ad being geared towards online bill pay not NEW customers only. Luckily for me the storage was just a luxury for extra race car parts but I know a lot of people rely on storage lockers and for them I am sad.
